To celebrate New Years Eve, my Dad, Uncle and I decided that we would head up to Planes of Fame in Chino, CA. Things didn’t turn out as planned. First, Eulclid Ave is closed down because of the massive flooding, and they just had a guy at the light giving directions. We started off following them and eventually got lost for a while. When we eventually got to our destination, they were closed. Bummer! I did check their calendar yesterday and didn’t see anything about them being closed.
Not wanting to ruin our day we all decided we’ll go to March Field Air Museum and see if they were opened. Luckily for us, they were open and we were treated with a few flybys by F-16. It turned out to be a great day. We got to talk and I got to take pictures. For now, Planes of Fames is on hold until we can figure out a new day to visit. I really want to take a picture of their Sherman Tank. Anyways, here are some of the images that I took from today. I tried some new techniques as well, so I hope you enjoy some of these images.

Friday, December 17th I got the privilege to photograph my friend Skylar Company Christmas party. This was my first big event since I started studying photography and it was an honor. There was much to learn from this event, especially being able to adapt to unforeseen circumstances such as a hotshoe flash not working like it should. That was a huge frustration, but at the end of the day all is well. I got to meet with Skylar’s coworkers and immediately connected with a few. I had a blast being able to capture Skylar’s Company Christmas Party, meeting his family and listening to his stories from back in the day. I had a fun time, thanks Sky.

I got my first gig coming up shooting a Company Christmas Party for a friend. One of his ideas was to have some portraits taken in front of a Christmas tree. Having not working very much with a combination of ambient light mixed with some flash, I decided that it would be time to dial in some settings and techniques. Overall, I think I have nailed a good combination of ambient and flash, while still maintaining hand holding of the camera.

These last two shots are the same as the previous with a few different editing techniques. There are some additional techniques that I eventually would like to give a try, but those will have to wait until a later date.
